Campaigning for a fairer economy, so growth can work for good.
The Good Growth Foundation is a think tank on a mission to crack the politics of economic growth, unlocking solutions to deliver prosperity people can feel. We champion popular, practical and fair policies that drive sustained growth, raise living standards and create opportunity for all.
A thriving economy is the foundation of strong communities. That’s why we confront the toughest political challenges to build a future where growth is widely shared. Grounded in the public’s priorities, our research and campaigns aim to raise living standards and make a tangible impact on life across the UK.

What is “Good Growth”?
Good growth is the kind that shows up in people’s ability to make the decisions that shape their futures. It gives people a genuine stake in the economy - a stable income, a secure home, the chance to move, retrain or start a family because they feel able to do so - and depends on an enabling state to ensure those decisive moments in life are genuinely theirs to make. It is a whole‑government approach, a lens that can be applied in every department to ask what will give people more agency and more genuine choices, rather than concentrating opportunity in a handful of sectors or places.
We were delighted to host the launch of Manchester’s Good Growth Fund, the city‑region’s newest initiative to unlock long‑term good growth across all ten boroughs. Right now, too many people feel buffeted by economic forces outside their control. Good growth is about changing that, proving that with the right powers and policies every part of the UK can write its own growth story, and every person can have more choice in the course of their life.
Could you fix student loans?
The Good Growth Foundation is campaigning for a Graduate Guarantee, which would raise the repayment threshold of Plan 2 student loans to £33,542 and inflation-proof this rise through legislation.
Play our Threshold Game below to see how different changes would affect your loan repayment and the the countries finances.
You’re the Chancellor for one Budget. Raise the repayment threshold to give graduates relief. Too timid and nothing changes. Too generous and the bond market comes for you. Find the sweet spot.
By combining rigorous research with compelling storytelling, we craft political strategies that resonate with both policymakers and the public.
Our campaigns focus on realistic solutions to the key problems of our time - the cost-of-living crisis, the NHS, the UK-EU relationship (to name a few). We tackle head-on the sticky political problems facing the UK to create economic growth that is visible in people’s day to day lives.
